Minister of Environment: We have achieved many gains from COP27

Dr. Yasmine Fouad, Minister of Environment, Ministerial Coordinator and Envoy of the COP27 Climate Conference, said that Egypt has made gains at the national and international levels from hosting COP27, and has proven its ability to organize an international event of this magnitude.

The minister highlighted from the international media on Egypt, especially in dealing with the climate change file at the international and national levels

At the African level, the African Adaptation Initiative launched by the President of the Republic was activated, after obtaining financial support provided by the United States of America and developed countries worth $ 150 million and hosting the initiative's management unit in Cairo, and $ 100 million for the least developed countries (the Fund for Least Developed and Island Countries, the Special Fund for Climate Change).

She added: "At the negotiating level, for the first time, the item of loss and damage is included in the agenda of the conference after the rejection of the inclusion of this item for many years by developed countries, and the negotiation of item 6 on the carbon market as well as the mitigation work program was completed and moving forward with both adaptation and financing to be discussed in the UAEa

She added that at the national level, Egypt has succeeded in mobilizing funding for the Nwfi program (Energy, Food and Water Interconnection).
