A commanded in Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) said today, Thursday, that a ceasefire between the Palestinian resistant groups in the Gaza Strip and Israel may be at hand.
He added over an interview with CNN, a US news network, that ceasing the military operation would be announced within the 24 hours to come.
He indicated that there is a positive atmosphere around the negotiations of the ceasefire due to the support of brothers in Egypt and Qatar who suggested various solutions.
He affirmed that the general demands of the Palestinian people are still clear as they include the termination of the Israeli aggression on the Al-Aqsa Mosque and Sheikh Jarrah, a neighborhood of Al Quds (known in the Western and Israeli sources as Jerusalem).
The Palestinian commander went on to say that the Israeli aggression on the Strip must be stopped at once and a mechanism to rebuild Gaza after the Israeli destruction should be launched without delay.
It is worth noting that the Israeli media outlets indicated that a truce has started today’s dawn at an Egyptian initiative sided by European and American support for humanitarian purposes.
But the Israeli artillery fired a number of shells today morning towards the arable Palestinian land in the east and middle of the Strip.
Also, the Israeli warplanes hit civilian targets in the middle and west of the Strip.
The Israeli media pointed out that the Egyptian initiative to cease the fire between the Palestinians and Israeli started as of today dawn but Tel Aviv is still assessing the initiative to reassure of the conditions of the truce.
Israel 24 news website mentioned that Egypt has submitted her initiative to cease the fire in Gaza to enter humanitarian aids to the inhabitants of the Strip.
However, António Guterres, Secretary-General of the United Nations (UN), expressed his deep concern at deteriorating the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip.
He warned of severe suffering of the population, demolishing of houses, and collapsing of the infrastructure.
He called the international community to secure sufficient funding for humanitarian operations in the Strip.
