The Ministry of Planning and Economic Development held a workshop at the headquarters of the National Planning Institute with the international expert Jeffrey Sachs, President of the Center for Sustainable Development at Columbia University in the United States of America (USA).
The workshop was attended by Dr. Hala Al-Saeed, Minister of Planning and Economic Development, Dr. Yasmine Fouad, Minister of Environment, and Dr. Mahmoud Mohieldin, the Special Envoy of the United Nations Secretary-General for Financing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and Executive Director of the International Monetary Fund, Dr. Ashraf El-Araby, President of the Institute of National Planning, and a number of experts and academics.
The workshop discussed topics such as the knowledge economy and its importance, environmental crises, the need for regional cooperation, and geopolitical changes.
During the second session, Dr. Hala Al-Saeed said that in light of the recent developments that have taken place in the world; it has become more important than ever to accelerate the implementation of the 2030 Agenda.
