Italy's Minister of Ecological Transition Roberto Cingolani has suggested that European energy companies temporarily pay for Russian gas in rubles.
"I think it would be good, at least for several months, to allow companies to continue paying in rubles while we understand the legal basis and the consequences," Cingolani said in an interview with a newspaper on Monday.
He added that he expected "a quick and clear statement by the European Commission," according to TASS.
The Italian minister added that it would be right to allow companies to pay in rubles for at least a few months while imposing sanctions and legal frameworks on Russia.
