The late thinker Jamal Hamdan, who wrote the Encyclopedia of Egypt's Personality, will be the personality of the year at the 51st session of the Cairo International Book Fair due to kick off on January 22nd at the New Cairo Conference Center.
Dr. Haitham Al-Haj Ali, Head of the Egyptian General Book Authority and the president of the exhibition, stated that Hamdan does not need a reason for his selection this year as he has highly contributed with great intellectual writings in the history of Egyptian culture.
Ali added that the main hall of the exhibition seminars that will bear his name, will witness discussions about his life and geographical philosophy. He further mentioned that a comic brochure will be issued about him, which suits children and young people, to get the chance to know about this man and his achievements.
As for the guest of honor "Senegal", Ali said that upon dictation from President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, we are oriented toward our African partners, especially after Egypt assumes the chairmanship of the African Union.
"In addition to its special activities, Africa Hall, for the second year, will include many African issues and arts and review Egypt's achievements last year on this regard.
" In line with the contemporary needs, Ali pointed to the high committee’s interest in digital technology, saying: “16 publishing houses for audiobooks and e-book participate in the exhibition, after we opened the door for participation to everyone.
"He added that protocols will be signed with regard to the application of digital and audio books to the sectors of the Ministry of Culture with the participation of the Egyptian Publishers Union.
