Leading auction company Christie's launched a new category of its Middle Eastern Art Department on the occasion of the 15th sale season. The newly founded section is called the "Design" section.
Taking place between November 14 and 24, the sale season will be running through online auctions. It will exhibit a perse selection of contemporary works by leading artistic figures such as Farhad Moshiri, Farid Belkahia, Mohamed Melehi, Samia Halaby, and Charles-Hossein Zenderoudi alongside others.
The organizers said on the official statement made by Christie's, "Complementing our main auction includes “Matters of Material,” a guest-curated bespoke sale dedicated to encouraging persity within the international art market, along with ‘We Are All Beirut’ a charity initiative aimed to support and provide relief to the arts community in Lebanon."
Founded in 1766 by James Christie, the auction house has exhibited huge artistic and archaeological pieces for auction which went viral such as the final painting by Leonardo Davinci known as "Salvator Mundi."
Moreover, Christie's house is well known in Egypt due to auctioning various ancient Egyptian antiques which attracted the eyes of Egyptian archaeologists calling for stopping those kinds of auctions for preserving the Egyptian heritage and civilization.
