The Chinese embassy in Canada on Wednesday urged Ottawa to respect China's sovereignty and rule of law and stop "interfering" in Hong Kong affairs.
The embassy said in a statement that Canada had made "unfounded accusations" and "deliberately offended" the Hong Kong government about performing its duties in accordance with the law.
It added that Hong Kong issues are purely China's internal affairs.
