China has announced the cancellation of mandatory COVID-19 testing for incoming travelers starting from August 30, according to Cairo News Channel.
China had previously adhered to a "zero-COVID" policy, which involved locking down neighborhoods or entire cities at the slightest appearance of cases, conducting widespread testing, and even quarantining confirmed cases and travelers arriving from abroad.
However, these restrictions have sometimes come with challenges such as limited access to food, and medical care, and difficulties in both domestic and international travel, straining the patience of Chinese citizens.
At the end of 2022, the Chinese government had stated that incoming travelers would still be required to undergo six rounds of COVID-19 testing.
