China reported a new case of the mutated strain of bird flu, H5N6; local media agencies cited authorities on Thursday.
The 55-year-old man was hospitalized in a city in southwest Sichuan after he suffered from fever and tested positive for the virus in early July.
Authorities said that local officials had an emergency response and scanned the region; in addition, local reports expressed that the risk of a huge outbreak of the virus among people is still low.
On the other hand, all reports didn't shed light on how the man contracted the virus or his relationship with poultry as this virus is scientifically transmitted through deal contact with poultry and dead or wild birds.
It is worth mentioning that the World Health Organization announced last week recording 32 cases with H5N6 and 19 deaths in the East Indian Ocean region.
