On Sunday, the Egyptian Musician's Syndicate announced suspending Sufi chanter Sheikh Mahmoud Al-Tohamy for breaking the syndicate laws.
The syndicate revealed that Al-Tohamy attempted to establish an independent Chanters Syndicate, ignoring the Musicians Syndicate's Chanters department, Tarek Mourtada, the syndicate's media person revealed.
On the other hand, Hany Shaker, Syndicate's Head, asserted that establishing a separated Chanters Syndicate was rejected by Cairo Opera House, Musicians Syndicate, Higher Institute of Arabic Music, and Faculty of Musical Education.
Therefore, the Egyptian constitution prevents establishing a second same-profession syndicate.
In the same context, the Musicians Syndicate asserted its responsibility for all musical genres and subgenres such as Orchestral music, Pop singers, chanters, and folk musicians.
