Canada has imposed a new round of sanctions on Israeli extremist settlers allegedly involved in violent acts against Palestinians in the occupied West Bank.
This move, announced by the Canadian government, targets seven individuals and five entities for their roles in facilitating or supporting such violence.
Among those sanctioned are Benzi Gopstein, known for his close ties to Israeli far-right figures, and Lehava's founder, associated with extremist Jewish activities.
The sanctions also extend to groups like the "Hilltop Youth," known for establishing unauthorized settlements in the West Bank, and their leaders, Meir Ettinger and Elisha Yerid.
Canadian Foreign Minister Mélanie Joly expressed deep concern over the ongoing violence, condemning these actions and urging Israeli authorities to ensure the protection of civilians while holding perpetrators accountable.
These measures follow similar actions taken recently by Britain, France, the European Union, and the United States, underscoring growing international concern over settler violence and its impact on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
The sanctions include prohibitions on transactions with the sanctioned individuals and entities, as well as restrictions on their entry into Canada.
