Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced on Tuesday that Canada will provide the "hard-hit" economics in Africa with additional support.
Through his speech at France-Africa Summit on Financing African Economics, Trudeau asserted that the state will continue its efforts to compete against the pandemic globally as the virus leaves negative social and economic impacts.
"The COVID-19 pandemic has caused unprecedented economic and social challenges worldwide. These effects have been particularly damaging for many of Canada’s partners in Africa. Canada is one of the leading contributors to the global fight against COVID-19," he said.

Regarding the support the state committed to present, the Prime Minister announced providing $ 300 million to Development Finance Institute to support the private sector, adapt to climate change, and enhance women's economic participation in developing countries. He also revealed that a new $75.9 million to support low-income people including women.
In addition, a $15.2 million facility will be provided to the African Trade Policy Centre of the U.N. Economic Commission for Africa.
