Paris announced on Tuesday the launching of a new French- Egyptian initiative within the framework of the international efforts to find an inclusive political solution to the Libyan crisis, coinciding with the Libyan constitutional track session currently being held in Cairo.
In press statements, Stephane Romatet, France’s Ambassador to Cairo said that his country is preparing to launch a new initiative in coordination with Cairo to solve the Libyan crisis.
He added that the initiative will include neighbouring countries and political actors in the crisis.
The new initiative aims at reaching a permanent ceasefire and pushing the Libyan parties to reach a common political agenda, in line with the UN Security Council resolutions on Libya and Berlin Conference imposing an arm embargo on Libyan factions, banning foreign intervention in the North African State, and advocating for a political solution.
