On Wednesday, the Cairo Criminal Court ordered the release of 461 detainees held in remand detention in 19 different cases.
The court's decision includes those who were detained on charges related to terrorism and the spread of false news therefore affecting national security.
The court released the detainees on precautionary measures.
The list of detainees included political activists, such as blogger Mohamed Oxygen as well as activists Ziad Abu Fadel, Abdel-Rahman Essam, Ibrahim Medhat and Sherif Sabra.
The detainees were arrested in 2019 for two cases; the High State Security Prosecution accused them of a number charges including joining a terrorist group and spreading false news about the political and economic situation of the country.
