Cabinet Approves Economic, Social Development Plan for FY 2023-2024

The Egyptian Cabinet approved on Wednesday the economic and social development plan for Fiscal Year 2023-2024.

The plan aims at achieving the goals of human development, which is the main pillar of economic growth and social progress, according to the Minister of Planning and Economic Development Hala El Said.

The minister said the new plan focus on projects whose implementation rate exceeded 70 percent and the importance of providing investments necessary for their fulfillment.

In the same connection, she affirmed the importance of supporting the "Decent Life" presidential initiative that aims at developing Egypt's rural areas taking into consideration bridging the development gaps while carrying out investment projects in impoverished villages.

With regard to education reform, the minister said the education sector would witness 1,051 projects taking into consideration the population growth and growing development needs.

About the health sector, the minister revealed that 657 projects are set to be carried out to develop hospitals and ambulance services.

Moreover, the minister said, "that youth file will include 339 projects aiming at expanding youth and sports services in all governorates."

She said the plan would improve Egypt's position in the global indices on food and water security, internal trade, industry, and communications.
