On Wednesday, the Cabinet passed a draft presidential decree to pardon a number of prisoners on the occasion of Eid ul Adha and Armed Forces Day.
The decision will come into effect ahead of Eid ul Adha, which will start on Sunday, June 28, and the Armed Forces Day which is celebrated on October 6th.
The decision to commute the sentences aims at giving them another opportunity to return to normal life and engage in productive activities in society.
