Businessman Salah Diab Arrested over Financial Charges

Egyptian businessman Salah Diab was arrested earlier today Tuesday to be interrogated over a number of financial charges, according to security sources.

An official statement is due to be issued shortly detailing the businessman's arrest.

It is worth mentioning that, Diab owns a number of companies that have been prosecuted for committing financial violations during the last years.

According to sources, a number of financial settlements have been proposed regarding those violations, but the fate of these settlements has not been decided yet.

Moreover, he was previously accused of acquiring agricultural land from the Agriculture Ministry at a price below market levels.

The case was made against him and other defendants in 2011 after the prosecution bureau received a complaint about the alleged fraud. Diab and other defendants had used the land to build tourist resorts.
