British Mercenary Killed in Ukraine, Other Missing

A British citizen was killed in Ukraine and a second is missing, the Foreign Office confirmed on Thursday.

In a statement, the Foreign Office said: “We can confirm that a British national has been killed in Ukraine and are supporting their family.” On the missing person, the spokesperson noted: “We are aware of a British national who is missing in Ukraine and are supporting their family. We are urgently seeking further information.”

The Foreign Office has not disclosed any further details about the incident, including whether the two cases were related and where the death occurred.

However, Sky News reported the pair has been volunteers who had gone to fight in Ukraine amid the Russian invasion of the eastern European country.

A number of Britons, including former service people, have volunteered to fight with the Ukrainian armed forces against Russian troops.

Reports also pointed out that two other British volunteers were captured by Russian forces in the besieged southern port of Mariupol.
