Unfortunately, because of the sudden coronavirus outbreak, curfew and mandatory quarantine, the public will not be able to celebrate Easter and Sham ElNesim as usual by going to the parks and enjoying the beautiful spring weather.
Nevertheless, do not worry we can all bring the celebration home by enjoying the weather and sun from our porches or balconies and by baking some delicious and special cookies.
We asked Emy Ezzat who is known on the different social media platforms and TV shows for her beautiful colors and shapes in the 3D cakes and sweets field.

• Cookies with different shapes
Ezzat said: “We can create so many beautiful sweets for the different family occasions.”
“We can start the pastries designing, and then bake cookies, cupcakes or flower cake pops. The cookies are made from a very simple dough with very simple ingredients including butter, sugar, flour and eggs.”

• The first step
Prepare the following ingredients:
- 1 cup of softened butter.
- 1 cup of powdered sugar.
- 1 egg and vanilla.
- 3 cups of flour.
Mix the butter, sugar, egg and vanilla together before incorporating the flour gradually to give a dough of medium elasticity that can be kneaded and spread easily.

• The second step
“Let the dough rest in the fridge for half an hour before cutting it into whatever shapes you want,” Ezzat added. “You can find the cookie cutters in pastry shops with reasonable prices. When you are done with shaping the cookies, place them in the oven to bake.”
• The third step (Decorating)
“When the cookies are done baking, leave them to cool before decorating them with fondant icing in whatever colors and shapes you like,” Ezzat added.
You can wrap the cookies in plastic wrap and it will last as long as month without going bad.

• Cake pops
The cake pops can be made into many different shapes and colors but Ezzat chose the flower shape.
She said, “These flowers are made of chocolate cake kneaded with chocolate sauce and covered with flower shaped fondant.”

She added that we can bake colorful cupcakes by coloring the cake dough itself before baking and we can also mix doughs with different colors to make the rainbow cupcake that everyone loves including adults. We can also ice them with rainbow colored icing.
