The Egyptian Football Association (EFA) have confirmed that Mohamed Salah tested positive for COVID-19 in his second PCR.
Salah Tests Positive Again
It was initially announced by the EFA that Salah tested positive for COVID-19 on Friday ahead of Egypt’s The clash against Togo.
The Federation then came out with a new announcement two hours later, confirming that Salah tested positive for COVID-19 for the second time after undergoing another PCR test.
“A second PCR test was conducted for Mohamed Salah and the result showed that he tested positive for the virus,” the EFA said in a statement.
“The first test result returned positive, but the Egyptian Football Association decided to conduct another test to confirm the validity of the test result.”
It’s worth noting that Salah had just attended his brother’s wedding on Tuesday during the international break; his Egyptian teammate and Aston Villa winger, Mahmoud Trezeguet, was also present, putting him at risk as well.
Salah is now set to miss out on Egypt’s upcoming clashes against Togo in the 2021 AFCON qualifiers.
