New York Governor Andrew Cuomo announced on Twitter that 1,000 members of the state National Guard will be deployed in Washington D.C., for a period of 2 weeks, over the recent riots seen in the federal capital, when mobs stormed the capitol in a bid to overturn election results.
He explained that his decision came upon a request by the U.S. National Guard.
The President -elect Joe Biden is set to take the oath after 2 weeks and office.
