Brazil’s President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva has called for reform of the United Nations Security Council.

This came in an interview with the Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera, where Lula da Silva continued that the UN Security Council, 80 years after its formation, needs reform, and there is a need for a body with representation from African and Latin countries.

According to the leader, Brazil believes that "a multipolar world is better than unipolar hegemony or bipolar conflict.

Lula da Silva pointed out that the establishment of different networks and the conclusion of agreements between nations can help achieve balance in the world.

He added that the UN Security Council is a structure that needs reform, as it represents the balance of power in the world in 1945.

"Almost 80 years later, many things have changed, and we need a larger and more representative council, with voices from Latin America and Africa, to really contribute to peace and security,” the Brazilian president noted
