Brazilian President-elect Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva on Sunday expressed his country's desire to achieve peace and end the conflict in Ukraine.
This came during his meeting with the Speaker of the Russian Federation Council, Valentina Matvienko, who heads the Russian delegation to attend Lula de Silva's inauguration as President of Brazil, according to the Russian news agency "Tass".
Lula said he told Matvienko that Brazil wishes for "peace and for the parties to find common ground to end the conflict," which began when Moscow sent troops into Ukraine on Feb. 24.
It is worth mentioning that, Lula de Silva's inauguration ceremony as President of Brazil is scheduled to take place today.
