European Union foreign policy chief Josep Borrell will visit China next week to meet with Chinese Foreign Minister Chen Gang, Bloomberg reported.
The agency quoted the EU’s ambassador to China, Jorge Toledo, as saying: "Joseph Borrell will arrive in Beijing next Monday and will meet there with Chinese Foreign Minister Chen Gang and other Chinese officials."
It stated that Toledo announced at the 11th World Peace Forum in Beijing that Brussels would continue to discuss strategic issues with China, including taking into account human rights and the conflict in Ukraine.
The ambassador added that the two sides are likely to continue the dialogue in the field of economy and trade next September.
He also announced the possibility of holding a summit with the participation of the leaders of China and the European Union at the end of this year.
The Bloomberg agency indicated that the news about Borrell's upcoming visit to China comes against the backdrop of Chinese attempts to persuade Europe to take a less aggressive stance than the United States, which imposed a series of export supervision measures on China in order to limit Beijing's access to advanced technology.
