US President-elect's office said on Sunday evening, citing his personal physician, that he sprained his ankle while playing with his dog, but he had not suffered any fractures.
His office said in a statement that the incident occurred on Saturday, noting that the 78-year-old president-elect visited an orthopedic doctor on Sunday for X-rays and CT scans to make sure he is okay.
“Initial x-rays confirm that there is no apparent fracture," Biden's private physician Kevin O'Connor said in a separate statement released by Biden's office, adding that the president-elect would undergo another more detailed examination.
President-elect has hairline fractures in his "mid-foot" and will "likely require a walking boot for several weeks," his doctor said in a statement according to US reports.
He was playing with Major, one of his two German shepherds, according to his office. The president-elect family adopted Major in 2018, 10 years after acquiring their first dog, Champ.
“The Bidens have said they plan to bring their dogs to the White House. Major, who was adopted from the Delaware Humane Association, will be the first rescue dog to live in the White House. The Bidens have also announced plans to get a cat when they move to the White House,” according to the USA Today.
