Jordan’s King Abdullah II is scheduled to meet U.S. President Joe Biden at the White House, on 19 July, reports revealed on Wednesday.
The White House stated that Abdullah, Queen Rania and Crown Prince Hussein will visit with the Bidens to “highlight the enduring and strategic partnership between the United States and Jordan.”
This meeting marks King Abdullah’s the first Arab leader who meets with President Biden since his election.
Jordan News Agency (PETRA) reported that the two leaders will cover the strategic ties between Jordan and the United States, means of bolstering them across several sectors, as well as the latest regional developments.
During the visit, the King is going to meet with senior administration officials; Congress leadership; members of the Senate Armed Services, Foreign Relations, and Appropriations committees.
Also, he will gather with members of the Foreign Affairs Committee and the State, Foreign Operations, and Related Programs Subcommittee at the House of Representatives, as well as US think tanks.
The visit comes on the heels of ongoing Jordanian diplomatic efforts led by the king, including a meeting with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, in addition to participating in the fourth trilateral Jordanian-Egyptian-Iraqi summit in Baghdad.
