U.S. President Joe Biden stated on Thursday that Republicans must decide whether they want to work together or pide the country, affirming that he would move forward on his priorities and “take things as they come.”
"My Republican colleagues are going to have to determine whether or not we want to work together, or decide the way in which they want to proceed is to just pide the country, continue the politics of pision,” Biden stressed. “But I'm not going to do that, I'm just gonna move forward.”
Moreover, Biden said that the U.S. Senate must make it harder to use a parliamentary maneuver called the filibuster which requires 60 votes to advance most legislation in the 100-seat chamber, clarifying that it is being abused.
At his first official White House news conference, Biden asserted that he was determined to get things done in Congress, calling the longstanding filibuster rule an obstacle to progress that is being abused by senators "in a gigantic way."
Moreover, the U.S. President also revealed his plan to run for re-election in 2024.
