US President Joe Biden declared a state of emergency in the United States of America (USA) against the backdrop of a possible shortage of electricity generation capacities in the country.
According to "Russia Today", Biden said that "several factors" threaten the ability of the United States to produce the electricity it needs.
A White House statement quoted Biden as saying: "I declare an emergency due to threats to the availability of sufficient electricity generation capacity to meet consumer demand."
The president exempted from import duties for two years "some solar modules and parts", which are imported from Cambodia, Malaysia, Thailand, and Vietnam.
Earlier, residents of several states in the West and Midwest of the United States warned of possible power outages this summer due to unusually high temperatures and drought.
