On Thursday, US President Joe Biden congratulated the Lebanese President Joseph Aoun on his victory.
The US President had a phone call with the Lebanese President which witnessed discussions about the situation in Lebanon and its people.
Biden pledged to continue US support for Lebanon’s security forces, and for Lebanon’s recovery and reconstruction.
The US President also asserted his full confidence in Aoun, praising him as the right leader to guide Lebanon to beat all challenges.
On Thursday, the Lebanese parliament elected Joseph Aoun, who is the country's army chief, as the new president of the country after two years of a power vacuum.
Aoun's candidacy was backed by several key political parties.
