US President Joe Biden said that his administration wants to "verify the safety of artificial intelligence (AI) systems before they reach the public."
He called for the need to address the risks of this technology to national security and the economy.
Biden from San Francisco, during his meeting with business leaders and experts to discuss new guarantees for this emerging technology, pointed out that his administration is trying to seize this moment, in order to manage the risks that our society, economy, and national security face due to artificial intelligence.
Biden added that his administration is "committed to protecting the rights and safety of Americans while protecting privacy, and addressing bias."
It is worth mentioning that Biden met with a group of civil society leaders, who have previously criticized the influence of big tech companies, to discuss artificial intelligence.
The meeting included Tristan Harris, executive director of the Center for Humane Technology, Algorithmic Justice League founder Joey Bulamwini, and Stanford University professor Rob Reich.
