On Monday, the Bibliotheca Alexandrina organized a conference entitled "Upper Egypt is changing" in a Cairo hotel.

Special guests of the conference, Minister of Local Development Mahmoud Shaarawi, Dr Nevin Al-Kabbaj, Minister of Social Solidarity Nevin Al-Kabbaj, and Dr Mustafa Al-Faqi, Director of Bibliotheca Alexandrina, opened the event.

The Conference, which was attended by a large number of Egyptian officials, was opened by an address given by Dr El-Faqi.

The discussion focused on the Upper Egypt issues in the context of a national movement for the Upper Egypt development.

According to an official statement by the Director of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, the maven politician explained “this conference presents a sincere national vision for building the future, and the role of Egypt’s President Abdel Fatah ElSisi in the country’s developmental renaissance and civilizational shift towards modernizing all aspects of life.

“We believe that Upper Egypt is the cradle of civilization and also remained as a historical distinction even after the Pharos' period," the statement added.

El-Feki also affirmed that Upper Egypt is the home of geniuses and great figures and celebrities in our history, starting with Abbass Al-Akkad, Taha Hussein, Al-Manfalouti, Al-Maraghi and late Egyptian President Abdel Nasser.

“Such initiatives and exchanges strengthen and reinforce national capacity and create new possibilities to achieve Upper Egypt development program goals at the country level,” Director of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina indicated.

It is worth mentioning that the Bibliotheca Alexandrina launched a new initiative to study development efforts to change Egyptian society. It started with the "Egypt Changes" conference in Alexandria in early March 2021.
