Bassam Radi: Egypt Elected as Member of FAO’s Council

Egypt has been elected as a bureau member in the FAO Council in Rome for three years, Egyptian Ambassador to UN agencies in Italy to Bassam Radi announced.

According to Radi, the selection came in recognition of Egypt's efforts in promoting and enhancing food security, improving environmental sustainability, and raising the quality of rural people.

He also noted the council, which concerns about world food security, is regarded as one of the most important panels in FAO.

The plenipotentiary-extraordinary to Italy expressed Egypt’s hopes for extensive co-operation and coordination with the FAO, amid the current global conditions as the issue of food security and agricultural production is aggravating.

In the same connection, Radi on behalf of the Egyptian government, has congratulated QU Dongyu on his reelection as Director-General of the FAO.
