Barcelona have officially announced the signing of England international Anthony Gordon from Newcastle United, with the winger putting pen to paper on a contract that will keep him at the Catalan club until June 2031.
The move marks one of Barcelona’s most significant transfers of the summer as the club continues to strengthen its squad for the coming seasons.
In an official statement, Barcelona highlighted Gordon’s rapid rise in European football, describing him as one of the continent’s most exciting attacking talents thanks to his pace, dribbling ability, and effectiveness in the final third.
Born on February 24, 2001, in Kirkdale, Liverpool, Gordon began his football journey in Liverpool’s academy before joining local rivals Everton at a young age.
He progressed through the club’s youth ranks and made his senior debut at just 16 years old in the UEFA Europa League before breaking into the Premier League as an 18-year-old.
After four and a half years with Everton, Gordon completed a move to Newcastle United in January 2023, where he established himself as one of the Premier League’s standout performers.
During his first full season at St. James’ Park, he scored 12 goals and provided 10 assists, earning the club’s Player of the Season award.
The 25-year-old continued his impressive form last season, finishing as Newcastle’s leading scorer and one of the league’s most effective dribblers.
His performances attracted interest from several top European clubs before Barcelona secured his signature.
