Spanish giants Barcelona are expected to officially announce the signing of young Egyptian striker Hamza Abdel Karim within the coming hours, ahead of the close of the winter transfer window in Spain.

The 18-year-old forward is set to join from Al Ahly after successfully completing his medical examinations.

Abdel Karim arrived in Barcelona late Saturday evening after departing Cairo and was welcomed by his agent, Cristian Emil, to finalize the remaining procedures of the deal.

He is expected to link up initially with Barcelona Atlètic, the club’s reserve side.

Abdel Karim is widely regarded as one of the most promising young talents in African football. Standing at 1.85 meters, the left-footed striker is known for his physical presence, finishing ability, and sharp movement inside the penalty area.

He has already made nine appearances for Al Ahly’s first team and boasts an impressive international record, scoring 12 goals in 17 matches for Egypt’s Under-17 national team.

According to Spanish media reports, including Sport, the move will be structured as a six-month loan with an option to buy.

The purchase clause is reportedly set at €3 million and could rise to €5 million depending on performance-related bonuses.

The reports also indicate that first-team head coach Hansi Flick will closely monitor the player’s progress, with Abdel Karim set to be evaluated during Barcelona’s upcoming summer training camp.

A potential promotion to the senior squad remains possible if he impresses, where he could eventually train alongside rising star Lamine Yamal.

Barcelona’s decision to bring in Abdel Karim is aimed at strengthening the attacking options of the reserve team, which has struggled with multiple injuries in recent weeks.

Club officials believe the Egyptian youngster will be ready to compete immediately and help improve results during the decisive phase of the season as the team pushes for promotion.
