Barcelona have reinstated the captaincy to German goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen after he signed the medical report related to his recent surgery, the club confirmed on Friday.
The 33-year-old had been stripped of the armband and faced disciplinary action after publicly discussing his recovery timeline and refusing to sign the medical report.
In an official statement, Barcelona announced that ter Stegen had now signed the document, which will be submitted to La Liga, effectively halting the disciplinary measures.
According to Spanish reports, the club intended to use the medical report to free up part of Ter Stegen’s salary to register new signings Joan García and Marcus Rashford.
