Today, Barcelona announced a short while ago the date of the club's presidential elections after a meeting the club decision-makers had.

Josep Maria Bartomeu announced his resignation from the club's presidency last October after a series of ongoing problems at the Camp Nou.

Barcelona issued an official statement a short while ago, stating that "The club's management committee meeting today issued its decision to hold presidential elections for the Board of Directors as per the provisions of articles 35 and 43."

The statement added that "Voting will take place on January 24, 2021, from 9 am to 9 pm without interruption and at various polling stations."

The club declared that "The Administration Committee emphasizes that the holding of these elections is subject to the Covid-19 pandemic, so they will be organized at all times by the provisions and instructions of the health authorities, to ensure the safety of voters."

The Club continued, "For the same reason, these elections will be held for the first time in a decentralized manner in 10 polling stations: Camp Nou - Barcelona, Girona, Tarragona, Tortosa, Lida, Madrid, Valencia, Seville, Palma de Mallorca and Andorra la Vella."

Since the club mainly aims to facilitate and encourage participation, reduce the movement of people and reduce congestion, and there will be an electoral census for each seat.

Consequently, members will be able to go to the polling station designated for them based on their zip code.

The club also added that "There will also be recommendations to vote in periods to avoid congestion and queue formations as per health protocols, and attendees must wear a medical mask."

It is noteworthy that Juan Laporta announced his candidacy for the presidency of Barcelona last month.
