On Monday, La Liga giants Barcelona confirmed that their goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen has suffered a serious knee injury and will undergo surgery this afternoon.
The goalkeeper fell during his attempt to catch a high ball during yesterday's 5-1 La Liga victory over Villarreal.
Barcelona Head Coach Hansi Flick said he felt “sad” about ter Stegen's “huge injury”.

Inaki Pena is likely the one who will fill ter Stegen's place until recovery.
Ter Stegen is expected to be sidelined with the injury for a long time after having a full tear in his right patella tendon.
He was taken to hospital after being taken off on a stretcher, and will have an operation on this afternoon.
Barcelona said in a statement: "Tests carried out on the first team player, Marc[-Andre] ter Stegen confirm that he has a complete rupture in the patella tendon in his right knee. On Monday afternoon he will undergo a surgical process and once complete a new update will be released."
