Austria has officially joined the Artemis Accords, committing to the responsible exploration of space.
The signing ceremony took place at NASA’s headquarters, marking Austria as the 50th country to embrace the international framework for peaceful space collaboration.
Austrian Ambassador Petra Schneebauer signed the accords on behalf of her government, with Acting US Assistant Secretary of State Jennifer R. Littlejohn and NASA Administrator Bill Nelson in attendance.
The US State Department highlighted Austria's role as a strategic partner and its dedication to fostering safe and sustainable space exploration.
Hosting the United Nations Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space (COPUOS), Austria has long supported efforts to ensure the ethical and sustainable development of space for future generations.
By signing the Artemis Accords, Austria strengthens its bilateral relationship with the United States, built on shared democratic values, dynamic trade and investment ties, and robust cultural and societal connections.
