Tornadoes and thunderstorms hit the US state of Indiana, killing at least one person, destroying dozens of homes, cutting power lines, and uprooting many trees.

Residents and the media circulated footage showing how storms swept away everything in their path, scattering fragments of buildings in the air.

75 houses were destroyed and power lines were cut in some areas. Over 16,000 people were left without power in Indiana on Sunday night.

About a quarter of all flights were grounded because of the storm the night before at Indianapolis International Airport.

When the storms subsided, emergency crews began assessing the damage and searching for people trapped under the rubble.

At the end of March 2023, a deadly hurricane struck the US states of Mississippi and Alabama. The hurricane accompanied by thunderstorms and rain killed 26 people, dozens were wounded and four others were missing.
