At least three people, including a toddler, were killed in Afghanistan by snowfall and severe rains, a government spokesman said on Saturday.

On Friday and Saturday, nine provinces in various regions of the nation were affected by the terrible weather: Balkh, Zabul, Faryab, Uruzgan, Nimroz, Nangarhar, Kunar, Nuristan, and Laghman.

According to Shafiullah Rahimi, a spokesman for the Ministry of Disaster Management, the snow and rains caused seven injuries, damaged or destroyed more than 750 dwellings, and wrecked agriculture.

He claimed that agencies of the government are giving families access to needs like food, tents, and blankets. To assess the damage, teams will travel to the impacted areas.

Rahimi added that the death toll from the 6.5-magnitude earthquake that shook much of Afghanistan and neighbouring Pakistan on Tuesday has remained unchanged.

The late-night earthquake in Afghanistan left 60 people injured and 10 dead. It caused damage to 800 homes nationwide.

At least 1,000 people were killed when a strong earthquake shook an isolated and hilly area of eastern Afghanistan in June. Thousands of homes were destroyed, and an estimated 1,500 persons suffered injuries.
