Cairo University topped the Egyptian universities and research centers in 2021 with 6514 published research, 16.8% of the total research published internationally at the level of Egyptian universities and research centers.

The statistics were issued by Scientific Research Index of the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology (ASRT), headed by Dr. Mahmoud Saqr.

Muhammad Othman Elkhosht, president of Cairo University, said the university had achieved an unprecedented leap in the field of scientific research through joint projects with international and local authorities or through self-financing of the university in light of the unlimited support for the research sector.

Elkhosht noted that the university implemented the largest funding budget in its history, whether by attracting external funding for research or from the university’s resources, with a budget of EGP 395 million. He also revealed that the university succeeded in attracting funding for joint scientific research amounting to about EGP 295 million.

Notably, the university is cooperating in about 200 national projects, stressing its ability to keep pace with international scientific development, especially the fourth and fifth industrial revolution.

The university’s researches are not for the purpose of international publication only, but rather applied scientific research, some of which contribute to a number of national projects of the Egyptian state in light of building the new republic.
