Syria's First Lady Asmaa Al Assad started her state visit to the UAE. It is her first visit to an Arab country in 12 years.
She was accompanied by Syrian President Bashar Al Assad. The couple was received by UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed.
Al Assads' visit to the UAE is a reflection of the UAE's role in the Syrian crisis.
According to Syrian TV, Al Assad will have a meeting with Sheikha Fatma bent Mubarak, the director of the Supreme Council for Motherhood, and Childhood.
Before the visit, Al Assad thanked bent Mubarak for her support and care of the Syrian victims of the Syria and Turkey earthquakes.
