The Emirates Stadium will stage a high-profile encounter between English side Arsenal and their visitors Crystal Palace, with a place in the League Cup semi-finals at stake.

Arsenal reached the round of final 8 after overcoming Portsmouth and Brighton, while Crystal Palace qualified by defeating Millwall before claiming an exciting victory over Liverpool, the competition’s most successful club.

That win underlined the Eagles’ ambition to compete for silverware.

Arsenal head into Tuesday’s fixture hoping to move a step closer to lifting a trophy they have won only twice in their history, in 1987 and 1993.

The Gunners are enjoying a strong season under Spanish manager Mikel Arteta.

They currently top the Premier League table after a 1–0 victory over Everton on Saturday evening, ensuring they remain in first place over the Christmas period.

The London side are in excellent form, entering the match on a run of three consecutive wins in all competitions.

They have won 11 of their 12 matches at the Emirates Stadium this season, including their last nine home games in a row.

Among those victories was a 1–0 win over Crystal Palace in a previous Premier League meeting, a match that stood out for the performance of former Eagles player Eberechi Eze.

On the other hand, Crystal Palace are under pressure following a downturn in results.

They have failed to win any of their last three matches in all competitions, lost their last two Premier League games, and conceded nine goals in their last three outings.

Despite those struggles, Palace managed a 3–0 win over a Liverpool reserve side in the League Cup, restoring hope of claiming a third trophy within a single year after winning the FA Cup and the Community Shield.
