On Saturday, Armenia called the United Nations to deploy a mission to monitor human rights and security in Nagorno-Karabakh under the current ceasefire in the region.
Azerbaijan declared a ceasefire in the region, on Wednesday, after the Armenian separatist forces surrendered their heavy weapons, and accepted the ceasefire.
The demands of a UN mission in the region were represented by Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan during his speech to the United Nations General Assembly.
Mirzoyan said: "The international community should undertake all the efforts for an immediate deployment of an interagency mission by the UN to Nagorno-Karabakh with the aim to monitor and assess the human rights, humanitarian and security situation on the ground."
In the same context, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov said in his speech to UNGA that Azerbaijan would continue paying efforts to "advancing post-conflict peace-building, reintegration, and peaceful coexistence."
