Arab League to Launch “Embassies Football League” in Cairo

The League of Arab States will inaugurate the “Embassies Football League” on Wednesday under the theme “Arab League Cup 2025,” bringing together diplomatic teams for a new sporting initiative aimed at fostering unity and cultural exchange.

The launch, scheduled at the 6th of October City Club, follows Resolution 1187 adopted by the Council of Arab Ministers of Youth and Sports at its 48th session in Baghdad earlier this year.

Ambassador Ahmed Rashid Khattabi, Assistant Secretary-General and head of the Media and Communications Sector, will represent Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit at the opening ceremony and deliver the League’s address.

Khattabi stressed that sports represent a form of “soft power” capable of strengthening ties among peoples and nations, describing football as a universal language that transcends politics and cultural differences while promoting tolerance, respect, and fair competition.

Egypt’s Minister of Youth and Sports, Dr. Ashraf Sobhi, who also chairs the Executive Office of the Council of Arab Youth and Sports Ministers, and Giza Governor Adel Said El Naggar are expected to attend alongside ambassadors from participating countries
