The League of Arab States launched the Boutros Boutros-Ghali Award for "Diplomacy, Peace, and Development" during an official ceremony held at the organization's headquarters in Cairo.
Ambassador Ahmed Rashid Khattabi, Assistant Secretary-General and Head of the Media and Communication Sector, delivered the keynote address on behalf of Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit. In his remarks, Ambassador Khattabi underscored the enduring legacy of Boutros Boutros-Ghali, the former UN Secretary-General and prominent Egyptian diplomat, noting his contributions to international peace, multilateral diplomacy, and sustainable development.
The award aims to honor individuals and institutions that have demonstrated outstanding achievements in promoting diplomacy, fostering peace, and advancing development in the Arab world and beyond.
