The Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, visited Lebanon to congratulate President General Joseph Aoun on assuming the presidency of the country, wishing him success in leading Lebanon, praising in this context the popular confidence, competence and patriotism of President Aoun.
According to a statement issued by the League of Arab States, Gamal Rushdi, the official spokesman for the Secretary-General, explained that during his meeting with the new president, Aboul Ghait praised the oath speech he delivered before Parliament.
The spokesman explained that the Secretary-General met during the visit with both President Nabih Berri and President Najib Mikati, where he affirmed during those meetings that Lebanon today has an important opportunity to open a new page that will restore the country’s health.
