Antonio Guterres Delivers Unity Message as World Approaches 2022

UN Secretary-General General Antonio Guterres delivered a Unity message outlining the theme, objectives, and program for the upcoming year.

In his message, he said: "The world welcomes 2022 with our hopes for the future being tested."

Guterres also called on world leaders to "commit to making 2022 a year of recovery for everyone," referencing recovery from the pandemic, economies, mistrust, and pision, "with a new emphasis on science, facts, and reason."

In the same spirit, he affirmed the need for countries to come together and make recovery for people and the planet their priority as the world continues to recuperate from the COVID-19 pandemic.

His message also focused on recovery from some issues, including, conflicts, mistrust, and pision.

He concluded: “Together, let’s make recovery our resolution for 2022. I wish you all a happy and peaceful New Year.”
