Angola has confirmed its first case of monkeypox, according to a statement by the Ministry of Health.
The case involves a 28-year-old woman of Congolese nationality residing in the capital, Luanda.
Health authorities have isolated the patient and launched extensive efforts to identify and monitor individuals who may have been in contact with her, alongside conducting a comprehensive epidemiological investigation.
The Ministry urged citizens to maintain strict hygiene practices and seek medical attention if they experience symptoms such as fever, headache, muscle and joint pain, swollen lymph nodes, or a widespread rash.
It emphasized its commitment to regularly updating the public on the outbreak's status while implementing measures to safeguard public health.
Angolan authorities have also called for calm, encouraging the population to remain composed as containment measures are put into place.
