For the second time in a few months the same incident reoccurred with the same details, although the time, place and name of the victims are different.
From Margart Nabil to Ahmed Borg; Anesthesiologists who died in an operation room, not as patients, but as doctors while performing their work.
The phenomena of sudden death, as a result of work pressures is becoming more frequent.
According to latest figures, around 18 young doctors died suddenly, over the last three months.
The last of them is Dr. Ahmed Borg; an anesthesiologist in Berket El-Sabe hospital, Menoufia, after he anesthetized a patient to prepare him for surgery.
He suddenly fell to the ground as a result of sudden cardiac arrest due to 36-hour chronic stress.
The head of medical syndicate attributed the causes of Dr. Borg's death to stress and long working hours, which leads to the exacerbation of the doctors' resignations and their immigration abroad, including those who are switching their specialty, resorting to other ones.
The existing number of doctors are paying the price of doctors' shortage and the ministry's inability to provide a solution.
On the other hand, the medical syndicate head considered the death of the young doctor in the operating room a work injury which requires a financial compensation approved by the law.
It is worthy to mention that, the number of anesthesiologists in Egypt according to the medical syndicate statistics have reached 7639.
However, in reality this number is affected by many factors including; the resignation of many doctors as a result of difficult work conditions, in addition to the migration of 50% of them outside Egypt in search of a safer work environment.
